Job summary

OTTO in Bedford, NH is seeking a Kitchen Manager to support the Restaurant Manager in running the kitchen and delivering a memorable guest experience. This role leads kitchen staff, oversees food preparation and safety, and ensures smooth service during busy periods.

Candidates should have 2–4 years of kitchen leadership and the ability to manage inventory and schedules. A flexible weekend/night schedule and SERV Safe or TIPS certification are preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Kitchen Manager, you'll assist the Restaurant Manager with the overall operation of the restaurant and leading the kitchen staff. This role serves to create the overall guest experience.

We are looking for a Kitchen Manager with 2-4 years of experience. Experience in leading 10-20 prep, dishwasher and pizza makers is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct periodic and regular inspections of FOH to observe and ensure standards for quality of food preparation and service, food appearance, cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, equipment and employee appearance.
  • Inventory Control – proper rotation and tracking of stock, ordering daily and weekly inventory.
  • Assist with weekly scheduling of employees; oversee proper opening and closing of the restaurant dining room.
  • Assist with managing employees including delegating roles and responsibilities, hiring, firing, and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill of each position and fill in or assist if necessary.
  • Coordinate and assist in all training activities, to include the identification and analysis of training needs to address any deficiencies.
  • Implement proper food, safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints.
  • Assist in the interviewing and on boarding process of new hires.
  • Assist with weekly administrative duties as needed.
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned
  • Maintain current knowledge of the food preparation and ingredients for all menu food and beverage items.
  • Answer all questions regarding the menu.
  • Ability to fulfill orders using toast POS software systems and kitchen display screens, order slips or by memorization.
  • Adhere to any dietary/allergy items per guest requests.
  • Properly communicate the order to the kitchen staff for preparation (food items).
  • Properly distribute prepared items from the kitchen to the guests.
  • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any issues to MOD.
  • Perform cleaning side work; ensures that the Kitchen is a clean and neat and adheres to food safety requirements.
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, safety, personal hygiene and health standards.
  • Perform closing activities such as cleaning equipment, dishes, scrubbing floors and walls etc...
  • Complete all service paperwork as required.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance; comply with company dress policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal communication required.
  • Availability of workdays, evenings and weekends as required a MUST.
  • Experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent customer service REQUIRED.
  • Ability to complete and pass the SERV Safe course or TIPS as/if directed by GM.
