Job summary

Fortune Society, Inc. is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support our culinary team by maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. You will ensure the cleanliness of dishes, utensils, and equipment, while upholding hygiene and sanitation standards to aid efficient kitchen operations.

The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced setting, strong attention to detail, and effective teamwork with chefs and staff. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, in Long Island City.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and clean all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils in a timely and efficient manner.
• Operate industrial dishwashers and hand wash items as necessary.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including refrigerators, ovens, grills, stoves, and preparation surfaces.
• Execute daily cleaning tasks to maintain a sanitary and orderly kitchen environment.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recycling in accordance with established procedures.
• Support kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks during peak hours.
• Collaborate with chefs and cooks to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen.
