Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Fire Suppression Hood Technician to independently perform core duties on kitchen hood systems, portable extinguishers, and related fire protection equipment. The role requires strong technical skill, reliability, and customer service in a field setting.

Responsibilities include installation, testing, maintenance, and service with occasional out-of-town assignments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with commercial and residential fire suppression systems required.
• California Fire Extinguisher Certificate of Registration issued by CAL FIRE – OSFM preferred.
• Experience with Ansul, Pyrochem, Amerex, Buckeye and Kiddie systems highly preferred.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong understanding of portable fire protection equipment and applicable codes.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).

Responsibilities

• Install, service, or upgrade kitchen suppression systems in commercial and residential buildings.
• Test and repair systems already in place.
• Service, inspect, recharge, maintain, or test portable fire extinguishers.
• Flexible scheduling including early morning, evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.
• Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed according to code.
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
• Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, with repair requests as needed.
• Work safely as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and PPE.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and work in a team environment as well as independently.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must be flexible with scheduling requirements.
• Display knowledge of fire safety principles.
• Interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
