Houston Fire & Security is seeking a Kitchen Hood/Fire Extinguisher Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair fire suppression equipment and extinguishers across diverse facilities.

The role emphasizes accurate records, compliance with NFPA standards, and customer-focused service. A TX FEL licensing path and relevant certifications are preferred, with on-site work and potential travel involved.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State of Texas FEL-K or FEL-A license is required.
• NFPA 10 certification or equivalent training preferred.
• Multiple years of experience in extinguisher inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair in large facilities.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on fire extinguishers, replacing seals, O-rings, gauges, and other components as needed.
• Recharge extinguishers after use and verify correct pressure and agent.
• Maintain records of test results, retesting schedules, inspections, and repairs.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning extinguishers, replacing faulty components to restore functionality.
• Inspect pre-engineered kitchen hood suppression systems; ensure compliance with codes.
• Install and repair fire suppression systems as needed.
• Respond to emergency service calls to provide timely assistance.
• Educate customers on proper use and maintenance of suppression systems.
