Job summary

Houston Fire & Security is seeking a detailed Kitchen Hood/Fire Extinguisher Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair fire suppression equipment. You will educate customers on proper use and work with the team to ensure safety compliance. This full-time, on-site role requires licenses and certification as noted.

The technician will perform routine maintenance on extinguishers, recharges, and detailed record-keeping, with travel to various locations as needed and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• FEL-K License required (FEL-A accepted).
• NFPA-10 or manufacturer certification preferred.
• Extensive experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and routine maintenance on fire extinguishers, replace seals and components, and verify correct pressure and extinguishing agent.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning extinguishers; replace faulty valves, hoses, nozzles, and handles.
• Inspect pre-engineered kitchen hood suppression systems; ensure compliance with codes.
• Install new fire suppression systems and components as needed; respond to service calls.
• Educate customers on proper use and maintenance of suppression systems and collaborate with team for safety compliance.
