Job summary

Milford Senior Center in Milford, DE is seeking a Part-Time Kitchen Helper to support daily meal service. The role involves maintaining kitchen areas, assisting with meal packaging and setup, and following sanitation standards.

Hours are Monday–Friday 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. Paid holidays, sick and vacation time are included.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and up to 3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to follow sanitation and safety regulations.
• Willingness to learn kitchen operations and food handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Assists in packaging and distribution of meals.
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns for clients.
• Follows sanitation and safety regulations per Food Code.
• Transfers supplies between storage and work areas.
• Monitors food temperatures using thermometers.
• Backs up serving lines to ensure adequate food supply.
• Transfers completed meals for transport or storage.
• Catches supplies and products needed for daily operation.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Maintain kitchen work areas and equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition. Help kitchen staff with daily tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the packaging and distribution of meals
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns (and condiments) for congregate clients
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, remove trash, clean, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations as noted in the Food Code
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
• Monitor food temperatures using thermometers
• Backs up serving lines, makes sure the line has an adequate amount of food
• Transfer completed food package to appropriate areas for transport or storage
• Cather supplies and products needed for daily operation
• Other duties may be assigned
