Job summary

Milford Senior Center (Meals on Wheels Program) is seeking a part-time Kitchen Helper to assist with daily meal service in Milford, DE. The role emphasizes keeping work areas and utensils clean and supporting kitchen staff.

Shifts are Monday–Friday, 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; ServSafe certification is preferred but not required. Emphasis on safety, sanitation, and timely meal handling.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in packaging and distribution of meals.
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns for congregate clients.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, remove trash, clean, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned.
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations as noted in the Food Code.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Monitor food temperatures using thermometers.
• Backs up serving lines and ensures the line has an adequate amount of food.
• Transfer completed food packages to appropriate areas for transport or storage.
• Cather supplies and products needed for daily operation.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SUMMARY

Maintain kitchen work areas and equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition. Help kitchen staff with daily tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
