Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a kitchen assistant to help prepare meals for diverse populations and transport meals to satellite sites, with a flexible schedule and no weekends.

The role requires at least one year of kitchen experience, knowledge of quantity cooking, proper use of kitchen equipment, adherence to Health Department regulations, and the ability to follow instructions, train and supervise staff and volunteers while representing LSS professionally.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of equivalent experience in a full-service kitchen in a health care facility, school or restaurant.
• Knowledge of quantity cooking: the ability to follow standardized recipes and convert measurements to accommodate the number of meals needed.
• Knowledge of all kitchen equipment and utensils usage.
• Knowledge of Health Department regulations.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, train, supervise, and direct site staff and volunteers.
• Represent LSS in a professional manner through adhering to dress code and personal hygiene practices.
• Represent LSS as the provider of this service, engaging with diners to promote a welcoming and inviting atmosphere
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

The successful candidate must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a drivers’ license; a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) is required.
