Job summary

Union Square Cafe in New York seeks a Kitchen Extern to support the kitchen team, learn station setup, and contribute to our Enlightened Hospitality culture.

You’ll assist prep and receiving, help line cooks, and grow your culinary skills through hands-on training in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Starting immediately, this full-time role offers competitive hourly pay of $18 and a path to further development within Union Square Hospitality Group.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment through education (culinary school or equivalent).
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
• English fluency; additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Refine techniques and continually learn and grow.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and support teamwork.
• Receive, label, and store market deliveries with the prep/receiving team.
• Assist line cooks in preparing components for stations and learn to set up a station independently.
• Perform additional duties to support team objectives.

What you’ll do:

• Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Demonstrate an eagerness to refine techniques and a desire to continually learn and grow.
• Communicates effectively with the kitchen team and embodies an environment of teamwork.
• Work with the prep and receiving team to receive, label, and store market deliveries.
• Assist line cooks in preparing components for their stations for service and learn to set-up a station independently.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed and other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational success.

The above represents the expected hourly range for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
