Job summary

Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a Maintenance Technician for Nutrition and Cafeteria to support the Department of Nutrition. The role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and installing commercial kitchen equipment and related systems to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The position requires a Tennessee driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and hands-on experience in relevant trades such as electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or motor mechanics. On-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in one or more areas: kitchen equipment, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, or motor mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and install commercial kitchen equipment (reach-in and walk-in refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, ovens, dishwashers, steamers, etc.).
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues in cafeteria equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics and related warranties/specifications.
• Inspect and service all kitchen equipment for the cafeterias and nutrition department.
• Follow safety rules and maintain equipment in safe condition.
• Manage preventive maintenance and inventory for tools and equipment.
• Handle on-call duties outside regular hours as required.
