Job summary

Michigan Dining at the University of Michigan offers year-round work assignments based on seniority with a bidding process. Kitchen Cleaners ensure a clean kitchen by removing trash, cleaning equipment, and washing dishes, while following HACCP standards and health codes.

The role may require working in other departments to maintain year-round staffing. Work hours are 40 per week with a typical Monday–Friday schedule and some weekend/holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends & holidays.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, and operate kitchen equipment.
• Understand and implement HACCP physical and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean kitchen by removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning equipment, filtering fryers, cleaning hood vents and drains, and washing dishes.
• Assist and work with other kitchen cleaners and staff performing general cleaning of kitchen areas and maintain a clean work environment following HACCP standards.
