Job summary

The University of Michigan's Michigan Dining is seeking a Kitchen Cleaner in Ann Arbor. You will help maintain a clean kitchen by removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning equipment, filtering fryers, cleaning hood vents and drains, and washing dishes.

This is a year‑round, full‑time, on‑site position with a 9:00 AM–5:30 PM schedule on weekdays and weekends off, offering a living wage with hourly pay from $20.42 to $21.62 and annual increases.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency in English and ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends & holidays.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, and operate kitchen equipment.
• Understand and implement HACCP and food safety standards.
• Maintain a static position for extended periods.
• Routinely move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean kitchen by removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors.
• Clean equipment, filter fryers, clean hood vents and drains, and wash dishes.
• Assist and work with other kitchen cleaners and staff in general cleaning of kitchen areas.
• Follow HACCP standards and health codes to ensure a safe work environment.
