Kitchen Assistant/Dishwasher - Part Time Evening and Weekends
Reports to: Sr. Food Service Director
Hours: Part time - Evenings and weekends
Position Summary:
Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to ensure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer-friendly environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure an adequate supply of clean utensils, dishes, pots, and pans for use.
- Scrap trays, soak dishes and utensils, and assemble the dish machine.
- Operate an industrial dishwasher.
- Set up and wash pots and pans.
- Remove trash from the kitchen.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
- Perform opening and closing side work.
- Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
- Provide quality food to residents, visitors, employees, and guests in a timely manner.
- Make tea and coffee, clean coffee machines in healthcare.
- Work on tray line, set up trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, read and call out diet cards, some bending and lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Place plates, desserts, and drinks on trays then on carts, some bending required.
- Clean area and put away milk and juice.
- Empty and clean tea urns and coffee pots.
- Pick up trays and trash from the floor.
- Assist with sweeping and mopping the floor.
- Lift trash cans as needed.
- Report any unusual conditions, behaviors, and resident reactions to licensed personnel promptly.
- Respond in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
- Protect confidential information concerning residents, families, and the organization.
- Follow all safety procedures and facility fire, disaster, and bomb threat protocols.
- Adhere to organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures.
- Attend scheduled conferences and in-services.
- Report sanitation or janitorial issues promptly.
- Perform additional duties as needed that do not significantly alter job requirements.
Specific Requirements:
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
- Ability to manage time, multiple tasks, and projects effectively.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- One or more years of food service experience preferred.
