Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant at STEM Charter School to support daily lunch program operations in charter schools with limited equipment. The role includes operating a POS system, assisting with meal prep, serving meals, and maintaining sanitation standards while building positive community relations.

• Operate Point of Sale system with accuracy and reconcile monies daily to ensure accuracy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Participate in training to include PGI Classes. May lead training for other kitchen staff members.
• Serve meals daily while complying with all school food regulations and ensures health department sanitation standards. Actively pursues upcoming regulatory changes and provides sustainable solutions.
• Pursues opportunities to create positive relationships with the surrounding community.
• Assist in the set up and cleanup of serving areas for timely service to students.
• Assist in the preparation, service and sale of meals ensuring compliance with department regulations. Independently follows menu and recipe instructions.

Job Description

Responsible for providing assistance in the daily preparation of the school lunch program in charter schools with limited equipment (AACS, ACS, AVA, BFACS, C2E, GVACS, LAECS, DCSMont, North Star Academy, PCKCS, PPACS, Ren Secondary, STEM [Elementary and Secondary], WCA). Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of forty (40) pounds
• Constant standing and walking
• Frequent squatting, reaching, and stooping
