Job summary

Aspen View Academy Charter School is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily lunch program operations in charter schools with limited equipment. You will help serve meals, maintain sanitation, and assist in food preparation while building positive community relationships.

The role involves setting up and cleaning serving areas, following menus, and participating in training such as PGI Classes. Regular hours are 30 per week, with a 0.75 FTE and a benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in school food service is a plus.
• Ability to operate a Point of Sale system and handle cash accurately.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Responsible for providing assistance in the daily preparation of the school lunch program in charter schools with limited equipment (AACS, ACS, AVA, BFACS, C2E, GVACS, LAECS, DCSMont, North Star Academy, PCKCS, PPACS, Ren Secondary, STEM [Elementary and Secondary], WCA). Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of forty (40) pounds
• Constant standing and walking
• Frequent squatting, reaching, and stooping

Responsibilities

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

• Serve meals daily while complying with all school food regulations and ensures health department sanitation standards. Actively pursues upcoming regulatory changes and provides sustainable solutions.
• Pursues opportunities to create positive relationships with the surrounding community.
• Assist in the set up and cleanup of serving areas for timely service to students.
• Assist in the preparation, service and sale of meals ensuring compliance with department regulations. Independently follows menu and recipe instructions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Operate Point of Sale system with accuracy and reconcile monies daily to ensure accuracy.
• Participate in training to include PGI Classes. May lead training for other kitchen staff members.

• All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
