Phoenix House in New York is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily meal prep and assist the campus cook in serving three meals per day for patients.

The role involves receiving deliveries, organizing stock, maintaining cleanliness, and helping ensure safe food handling. NYS Serv Safe certification and prior restaurant experience are preferred, with on-the-job knife and safety training provided.

Qualifications

• NYS Serv Safe certificate required.
• On-the-job training in knife use and safe and sanitary food handling procedures.
• Previous restaurant experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Receives deliveries and stores food.
• Rotates stock to maintain freshness.
• Cleans food prep areas and removes garbage.
• Assists campus cook with ingredient prep for entrees and meals.
• Prepares ingredients for menu items and assists in keeping the kitchen organized.
• Washes, chops, grates and slices vegetables and meats as needed.
• Complies with special food handling requirements for restricted diets.
• Assists in kitchen cleaning.
