Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily meal prep for patients and assist the campus cook. The role includes receiving deliveries, food storage, and kitchen maintenance in a busy healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Requires NYS Serv Safe certification.
• Previous restaurant experience preferred.
• On-the-job training in knife use and safe food handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receives deliveries and stores food in refrigerators and freezers.
• Rotates stock in containers to maintain freshness.
• Cleans food preparation areas and removes garbage from the kitchen.
• Makes lists of items that need to be ordered for campus cooks and assists in keeping the kitchen organized.
• Prepares ingredients for Campus cook to prepare entrees and meals.
• Washes, chops, grates and slices vegetables for various dishes.
• Cuts and slices meats to portion sizes.
• Complies with special food handling requirements for restricted diets.
• Assists in cleaning the kitchen.
