Job summary

Engelberg Care Home in Compton, near Wolverhampton, is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant or Cook to support the preparation and service of balanced meals for residents. Training will be provided for the right candidate, with a focus on high standards of food hygiene and resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally within a care or hospitality environment.

• Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above).

• Adapt meals for modified diets.
• Contribute to a positive dining experience for residents.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant or Cook to support the preparation and service of high-quality meals for our residents. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Kitchen Assistant – Key Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation as directed by the Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas, including washing up and sanitising equipment.
• Support with serving meals and drinks as required.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Report any maintenance issues, incidents, or accidents to the Head Cook.

Cook – Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve balanced, high-quality meals in line with residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
• Support the Head Chef in menu planning, stock control, and ordering supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and HACCP standards.
• Assist in supervising and training kitchen staff as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times.
• Adapt meals for residents with modified or specialist diets.
• Contribute to a positive dining experience that promotes residents’ wellbeing.
