Job summary

KPOT Grand Rapids is hiring a Kitchen Assistant/Dishwasher to help keep our fast-paced kitchen running smoothly. You will assist with food prep, dishwashing, and coordinating with front-of-house to ensure timely service.

This role requires stamina, the ability to stand 8–10 hours, and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. No prior kitchen experience is required but helpful; basic food safety knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and a passion for food.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation standards.
• Comfortable working around grills and hot cooking surfaces.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to KPOT's standards.
• Assist in food preparation and ensure all ingredients are fresh and ready for service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area at all times.
• Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to coordinate timely service.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed.
• Manage time to ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and all dishes are ready for use.
• Contribute to a positive work environment by fostering teamwork and collaboration.
• Assist with side work and opening/closing tasks.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with the front-of-house and management regarding allergy orders.
• Maintain a positive, energetic, and hospitality-focused attitude at all times.
• Be a team player, assisting other team members whenever needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movements in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in varying conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
