Job summary

Salvation Army Ardmore Corps in Ardmore, OK is seeking a full-time Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation, serving and dishwashing in a busy kitchen. This role involves cleaning, stocking, and basic food prep in a community kitchen setting.

This position will follow health regulations, assist with dining room and kitchen upkeep, and may involve driving for pickups. A minimum of one year kitchen experience is preferred and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals, beverages and snacks.
• Serve meals and ensure proper portions and plating.
• Clean tables, chairs, and kitchen equipment; wash dishes and wares.
• Stock food and supplies; maintain kitchen and dining areas.
• Drive Salvation Army truck on scheduled routes to pick up donated items.
• Set up tables and chairs for events and group activities.

Assists in the preparation of food and the serving of meals; cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes and wares; sweeps, mops and waxes floors.

Essential Functions

Kitchen Duties (90%)

• Assists in preparing meals, beverages and snacks; washes and chops fruit and vegetables; mixes beverages and arrange snacks.
• Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided.
• Clean tables, chairs, condiment holders, steam tables, and cold and hot storage holders
• Sweeps, mops, polishes, strips and waxes kitchen, dining room and kitchen bathroom floors.
• Clean refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coffee makers, stoves, ovens and other kitchen related appliances.
• Stock food, beverages, supplies in an orderly and safe fashion.
• Assistant with washing Dining Room and Kitchen windows and doors.
• Individuals will empty and wash various refuse containers.
• Kitchen Assistant will perform all kitchen work in accordance with Local Health Regulations as it relates to food preparation, food service and storage.

Other Responsibilities (10%)

• Drives a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick up donated food items
• Set up tables and chairs as needed to accommodate groups
• Performs other related work as required
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to meet the physical aspects of the job requirements.

Ability to lift and move or carry at least 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with

working in and around hot/cold food service.
