Job summary

Abbott House of SD is seeking a dedicated kitchen/food service worker to prepare nutritious meals for residents and support a structured daily routine.

You will maintain a clean, safe kitchen, follow menus, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines while supporting the well-being of youth in care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations; familiarity with federal child nutrition programs preferred or willingness to learn.
• Experience in food service, preferably in a group or institutional setting.
• Ability to maintain records, follow menus, and manage inventory.
• Ability to adapt to the needs of a youth care environment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical kitchen tasks.

• Plan and follow menus while managing food preparation, purchasing, and inventory of supplies.

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with staff to support resident needs and contribute to a positive, structured environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
