Job summary

CHR Career Opportunities seeks a Kinship Navigator for the Connecticut Kinship Navigator Program in Hartford, CT. This full-time role is 40 hours per week, offering competitive compensation in the stated hourly range.

You will help kinship caregivers access community resources, advocate for families, and provide in-home support. The position emphasizes lived kinship care experience, culturally aware service delivery, and collaboration within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Education requirements as stated: BSW/BA preferred or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree + 2 years related experience considered.
• High School diploma + 4 years related experience considered.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for home visits.
• Agency-required training and supervisor-recommended training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments across basic needs, legal, child welfare, caregiver social support, caregiver health, caregiver education & training, family functioning, childcare, education & child development, child social support, child health and cultural support.
• Assist families to identify and prioritize needs, and navigate/access community resources.
• Identify culturally appropriate resources for families within their communities.
• Provide support to families and connect them to needed resources in their community.
• Advocate for the needs of the family to all parties involved.
• Participate in trainings and meetings and regularly attend supervision.
• Document all services and contacts with families, collateral contacts and providers.
• Additional duties as required.
