California State University Bakersfield's Department of Kinesiology is accepting applications for an ongoing pool of part-time lecturers for the 2026/2027 academic year. These positions are temporary and instructional, across various courses and in-person at the Bakersfield campus.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; appointments may last from one day to a full semester. The pool covers the current academic year and will close on May 31st.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Certification in a specialty such as personal training, fitness instructor, skilled activity instruction (e.g. swimming, Yoga, etc.), strength and conditioning, and exercise specialist
• For kinesiology undergraduate and laboratory lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field
• For Athletic Training lecturers: Current NATA certification
• Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality education to a diverse student population, including first-generation and under-represented college students
• For kinesiology master’s degree courses: Doctoral degree or master’s degree with substantial teaching experience or scholarship experience or professional certification

Responsibilities

• Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring.
• Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester.
• This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field

Current NATA certification

Doctoral degree or master’s degree with substantial teaching experience or scholarship experience or professional certification
