Kinesiology-Clinical Exercise Physiology and/or Functional Anatomy Assistant Professor

Location: Central California: Fresno

Work Type: Instructional Faculty – Tenured/Tenure-Track

Full-Time Position

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Administration, and Sport and Performance Psychology.
• Engage in scholarly activity at the R2 level, including research, publications, and external funding acquisition.
• Serve on university and departmental committees at all levels.
• Provide academic advising and chair or serve on thesis committees.
• Maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the department, including community outreach.
• Manage a teaching load of up to 12 units per semester after the first two years of reduced load.

Primary Teaching Areas

• Clinical exercise physiology and/or cardiovascular physiology
• Functional anatomy
• General exercise science/exercise physiology courses

Required Education and Experience

1. Terminal doctoral degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates may apply; degree must be completed by August 1, 2027.
2. College-level teaching experience in areas directly related to Kinesiology, preferably with emphasis on clinical exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, or functional anatomy.
3. Experience in scholarly activities and R2 level research.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two or more years of full‑time teaching at the college or university level in Kinesiology or sports medicine.
2. Teaching experience at the graduate level.
3. Ability to advise students toward clinical careers (e.g., clinical exercise physiology, physical therapy, athletic training).
4. Clinical or research experience in one of the following: clinical exercise physiology with EKG interpretation, cardiovascular physiology, functional anatomy, or sports medicine.
5. Professional certifications or licenses related to clinical exercise physiology, athletic training, or physical therapy.
6. Evidence of external funding acquisition.
7. Prior post‑doctoral work with grant writing experience.
8. Demonstrated ability to manage a 12‑unit teaching load while maintaining research and service commitments.
