Kindergarten-Third Grade Special Education Teacher

POSITION TITLE: K-3 Special Education Teacher (Grade Level Inclusion)

FTE: 1.0

START DATE: December 15, 2025 - rest of 25-26 School Year

Taft Early Learning Center in Uxbridge, Massachusetts is seeking a K-3 Special Education Inclusion Teacher to join our first‑grade team, starting December 15, 2025. This is an excellent entry‑level opportunity for new graduates with a Massachusetts initial license in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8 or 5-12).

As an inclusion teacher, you’ll work collaboratively with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and provide specialized instruction in a supportive, team‑based environment. You’ll help students with moderate disabilities thrive in the elementary classroom through differentiated instruction, behavioral support, and inclusive practices.

Taft Elementary is a PreK‑3rd grade Title 1 public school serving approximately 560 students, located just 15 miles from Worcester. We offer strong administrative support, collaborative colleagues, and a welcoming school community where new teachers can grow professionally. This full‑time (1.0 FTE) position is perfect for December 2025 special education graduates ready to make an immediate impact in young learners’ lives.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required (Master’s preferred), Massachusetts Special Education licensure or Moderate Special Needs certification, experience working with diverse learners in inclusive settings.

• Develop, implement, and assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior plans, including writing and reporting on student goals and progress.
• Actively participate in Team meetings for eligibility, annual reviews, and re‑evaluations.
• Provide specialized instruction in primary content areas, developing appropriate modifications and accommodations.
• Collaborate with grade‑level educators, specialists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive student support.
• Maintain regular communication with families/caregivers regarding student progress.
• Conduct assessments and standardized testing to support the eligibility evaluation process.
• Deliver direct instruction in both inclusive classroom settings and small group/individual settings as per IEPs.
• Monitor student understanding of the general education curriculum and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Consult with general education staff on learning styles, differentiated instruction, and appropriate teaching materials for diverse learners.
• Align special education instruction with general education classroom expectations.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations in all aspects of the special education process.
• Administer and interpret formal and informal educational assessments, preparing written reports as needed.
• Analyze student work samples and data to monitor progress and identify skill gaps.
• Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals and ABA Technicians.
• Facilitate annual review and progress update Team meetings as required.

Additional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Massachusetts DESE Licensure in Moderate or Severe Special Needs required.
• Wilson or Orton‑Gillingham certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working with and/or teaching students with disabilities in inclusive educational settings.
• Comprehensive knowledge of a range of disabilities and related needs.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Standards and research‑based assessments and interventions.
• Strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy and high expectations for all students.
• Proficiency in IEP development and implementation.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret student data to inform instruction.
• Dedication to ongoing professional development in special education practices.

Physical Requirements (Must be able to):

• Assist students as needed, which may involve lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school day.
• Bend, twist, reach, and occasionally sit on the floor during instruction.
• Respond quickly to students’ needs and emergency situations.
• Use technology tools required for instruction and classroom management.
