Overview

Description - School name: St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School. Location: 450 S Stage Coach Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028. Reports to: Principal. Employment Type: Full-time. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Pay Rate: $22.00.

The professional hired to work as a teacher at our school will be responsible for the general supervision and management of fully potty-trained children between the ages of two and a half and five years of age.

Responsibilities

• The teacher serves the school in an instructional capacity and performs the specific duties assigned by the Preschool Director.
• Provides a grade-appropriate instructional program including lesson planning, classroom preparation, and assessment of each student’s performance and development.
• Supervises students.
• Respects and honors the needs of the individual children.
• Detects and reports to the preschool director any student concerns.
• Helps create and follow plans to support students.
• Assumes an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
• Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-services.
• Attends other school functions and activities as necessary.
• Uses computers, overhead projectors, document cameras, iPad, and other electronic equipment.

• Communicate regularly with parents in person and in professional emails.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

Qualifications

Religious Qualifications

• Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)
• Basic Preschool Catechetical Certification (preferred)
• Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy

Professional Qualifications

• Proof of completion of 18 or more Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
• Organized and have basic computer skills (Google for Education)
• Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for Community Care Licensing is a condition of employment)
• Experience teaching in a preschool classroom
• Positive professional references and recommendations

Requirements Upon Hire

• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Proof of immunizations
• Proof of completed Mandated Reporter training for Child Care Providers
• Cleared TB test to work in Licensed Child Care Facility

Schedule

• Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Schedule is to be determined by Preschool Director

Physical Requirements

To successfully meet the needs of the students in the teacher’s care, the teacher must:

• Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom; frequently demonstrate and work with items.
• Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
• Move through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks; walk on both even and uneven surfaces.
• Work with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending.
• Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class.
• Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the learning space layout; may occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be in the classroom and mobile within the classroom and preschool environment, as well as to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to travel to various city and county-wide locations for trainings or workshops.
