Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs of the students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students.
• Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards and encourage student compliance.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media suited to the setting and students.
• Strive to implement the district’s educational goals and objectives by instruction and action.
• Assess student progress and provide reports as required.
• Participate in programs supporting student achievement on state assessments.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assist administration in policy and rule enforcement.
• Supervise student behavior within the classroom and other areas.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the classroom day.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers; evaluate their performance.
