Job summary

Bloomfield Public Schools seeks an Educational Assistant for the Kindergarten program at Bloomfield Early Childhood Center. The role supports the teacher and principal with instructional tasks, reinforces lessons, and assists with English language development and cultural presentations within the classroom.

You will work as a second supervising adult, reinforcing teacher-presented material, helping students stay on task, and using current technology to manage instruction.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• For Title I or special education roles, meet state/federal Level III license requirements by completing specified college credit or passing Parapro with 457 score

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel in classroom, including covering when teacher is called away
• Provide assistance with individual program materials
• Assist in student discipline
• Help maintain student engagement in appropriate tasks
• Assist with supplementary work and supervise independent study
• Maintain cohesiveness in the school environment
• Serve as a role model and work as a team member
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Use current technology for instruction and management
• Comply with Code of Ethics and state/federal regulations

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

48 semester hours of college credit with required distribution
