Saint Michael Parish School in Olympia, WA is seeking a Kindergarten Para-Professional to support three-classroom program for the 2026–2027 school year. You will collaborate with three Kindergarten teachers, assist with lessons, centers, and routines, and help with supervision, transitions, and student well-being.

The role emphasizes patience, reliability, and a Catholic-identity-aligned approach, with daily prayer and school activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Experience with Kindergarten or early elementary students preferred.
• Basic understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple teachers and adapt to changing needs throughout the school day.
• Ability to follow teacher direction while demonstrating initiative and good judgment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the three Kindergarten teachers to provide consistent support across the Kindergarten program.
• Assist teachers in implementing lessons, instructional activities, learning centers, and classroom routines.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support under the direction of the Kindergarten teachers.
• Support differentiated instruction and accommodations to meet a variety of student learning needs.
• Work flexibly among the three Kindergarten classrooms based on instructional needs and daily schedule.
• Reinforce classroom expectations, routines, and positive behavior strategies.
• Help students develop independence, responsibility, self-regulation, and positive relationships with peers.
• Prepare instructional materials and organize classroom resources as needed.
• Assist with classroom projects, centers, hands-on learning experiences, and special activities.
• Provide consistent, active supervision during student recess periods and during transitions and other activities.
