Job summary

Davidson Charter Academy in Lexington, NC seeks a full-time Kindergarten Teacher Assistant to support instruction and help young learners develop foundational skills in a warm, engaging classroom. You will collaborate with the lead teacher, prepare materials, monitor progress, and reinforce routines and safety procedures throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience in an educational or childcare setting required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting young children’s academic and social development.

Responsibilities

• Assist with whole-class instruction and lead classroom activities as directed.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills, provide additional support, and offer enrichment.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources.
• Help students stay engaged and participate in classroom activities.
• Monitor student progress and maintain records related to academic and behavioral goals.
• Grade assignments and record results as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher daily to address student needs and support classroom routines.
• Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during transitions, and throughout the school day.
• Reinforce school rules, behavior expectations, and safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support students, teachers, and school operations.
