Qualifications

• Must be Highly Qualified per NCLB requirements.
• NCLB requires an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or 48 semester hours or 96 contact hours in relevant subjects.
• Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children.
• Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns in children.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to operate media/technology equipment.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small groups.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• CDL and Bus License may be required per job duties.
• Substitute bus driver eligibility may be required.

Responsibilities

• Discuss duties with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Plan, prepare, and develop teaching aids.
• Supervise groups in cafeteria, library, playground and other areas.
• Present subject matter to students using various methods.
• Operate learning aids and technology equipment.
• Assist with computer programs for teachers and students.
• Assist students individually or in groups with assignments.
• Prepare, administer and grade student assignments; help file records.
• Assist in preparing reports and materials; assist with parent conferences.
