Job summary

Pine Hall Brick Company Inc in Indiana is seeking a Burning Department Operator to oversee dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage, and propane systems.

You will handle operation, adjustments, preventive maintenance, repairs, quality checks, and generate shift and daily reports on a rotating night shift 6pm-6am; must learn full operation and collaborate with plant team.

Qualifications

• Monitor kilns and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform daily brick quality tests.
• Must obtain forklift license.
• Must be able to fill in for other department employees.
• Must complete daily reports and learn basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full operation of burning department including dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems and propane systems.
• Perform operation, adjustments, preventive maintenance and repair.
• Produce shift and daily reports and conduct quality checks.
• Support dept. housekeeping and train new employees as needed.
• Troubleshoot kiln operations and assist as required.

Description

You will be responsible for the full operation of the burning department including (but not limited to) dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems. You will be responsible for operation, adjustments, preventive maintenance, repair, quality checks, and shift and daily reports. Rotating night shift 6pm-6am.

• Make daily checks on equipment and repair or report to supervisor as needed.
• Must be able to learn the full operation of the automatic transfer cars.
• Must participate in dept. housekeeping and meet standards.
• Must be able to fill in for other department employees when needed.
• Must learn basic computer skills.
• Must be able to do the daily reports.
• Perform daily brick quality tests.
• Must be able to obtain forklift license.
• Knowledge and ability to use hand tools to adjust, repair, and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Repair and Rebuild Kiln Cars.
• Change Fan Belts and sheaves.
• Troubleshoot issues related to kiln operations and/or assist.
• May be asked to perform minor maintenance tasks in other departments.
• Expectations to train new employee’s is implied.

Educational, Experience, & Skill Requirements

• Hardhat, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes etc. required.
• Ability and willingness to help throughout the Plant where needed.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to twist, stoop, and bend regularly.
• Must be able to climb ladders, steps and work in high places.
• Must be able to work in hot conditions.
