Job summary

KidStrong in San Diego is seeking a dedicated Coach to lead engaging classes for children from crawling babies to 11 years old. You will deliver a dynamic curriculum, maintain safety and foster developmental progress in a high-energy center environment.

The role requires passion for working with kids, strong communication with families, and the ability to move and manage equipment as part of daily coaching duties. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable speaking to parents/guardians regarding a variety of topics.
  • Self-starter who just gets the job done.
  • Intermediate knowledge of physiology, exercise techniques, and body mechanics.
  • CPR certified (willing to attain).

Responsibilities

  • Coach students by delivering an evolving curriculum that focuses on Brain, Physical, and Character development approximately 24 hours a week.
  • Achieve Coach Certification through the HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Understand the "why" behind the KidStrong curriculum and communicate it clearly.
  • Coach classes for students from walking to 11 years old.
  • Create positive interactions with students and families before, during, and after class.
  • Maintain dynamic, fun, motivated and professional demeanor when leading the class.
  • Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various programming and curriculum elements.
  • Use the KS Coaches App to record data (attendance, awards, etc.).
  • Communicate professionally with co-workers in Slack; check messages when not in centers.
  • Ensure classes start/end on schedule and maintain curriculum pace.
  • Work in a physically intensive environment; move equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Assist parents of younger children with class flow.
  • Complete training through LearnUpon as required by GM/HQ.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Learn and manage KidStrong Camps when schools are closed.

A KidStrong Coach is the heartbeat of our center, delivering engaging and effective classes to kids from crawling babies to kids 11 years old. This role requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about working with children and can maintain a fun, high‑energy environment while ensuring safety and developmental progress.

Responsibilities
COACHING
  • Coach students by delivering an evolving curriculum that focuses on Brain, Physical, and Character development approximately 24 hours a week.
  • Achieve Coach Certification through the HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Understand the "why" behind the KidStrong curriculum and be able to clearly and concisely communicate it.
  • Coach classes for students with age groups ranging from walking to 11 years old.
  • Create positive interactions with students and families before, during, and after class.
  • Maintain dynamic, fun, motivation and professional demeanor when leading the class.
  • Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various programming and curriculum elements.
  • Use the KS Coaches App to record data and provide data (attendance, awards, etc.).
  • Communicate professionally with co-workers in Slack, including periodic checks of messages when not in centers.
  • Must be able to ensure classes both start and end on schedule and follow the appropriate pace of curriculum.
  • Must be able to work in a physically intensive environment – coaches may cover multiple miles in a shift moving through class, lifting and repeatedly moving equipment up to 25 pounds in weight.
  • Must be comfortable physically working with kids to ensure proper technique and ensure student safety.
  • Assisting parents of students, ages 4 and younger, with the direction and flow of a class.
  • Complete training through LearnUpon as required by the GM and/or HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Attend additional mandatory staff meetings as required by the GM.
  • Learn and manage KidStrong Camps held by centers when local schools are not operating (for example: Winter Break and Summer Break).
LEADERSHIP
  • Connect with families of the center and find ways to proactively keep them engaged with KidStrong. Foster the mentality that we don't want Families to Leave KidStrong, doing all you can to retain Families.
CENTER OPERATIONS
  • Build and maintain relationships with KidStrong families to align with our core values.
  • Assist in the execution of community events as necessary.
  • Daily, Weekly, and Monthly cleaning and maintenance of the center.
  • Provide excellent customer service to families and handle their needs when in the center.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS – Required
  • Passion for working with children is non-negotiable

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS – Preferred
  • Athletic or coaching background with experience working with or coaching kids ages 6 months - 11 years old
  • Prior experience as a pediatric OT/PT
  • Prior experience speaking to and educating parents on the KidStrong curriculum

Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
