Job summary

A children's development program in Edmonds is seeking enthusiastic coaches to work with children aged 12 months to 11 years. The role involves teaching the KidStrong curriculum, engaging with parents, and maintaining a positive atmosphere. Candidates should have a passion for working with children, effective communication skills, and ideally some prior coaching experience. Flexible scheduling is offered, and the position requires physical activity, including lifting and managing groups of children.

Qualifications

• Passion for working with children is non-negotiable.
• Experience coaching students within the appropriate age is preferred.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Knowledge of exercise techniques and safety for kids.

Responsibilities

• Coach classes of 6 to 15 children aged 12 months to 11 years.
• Teach the KidStrong curriculum as provided.
• Maintain a fun, motivating, and professional demeanor.
• Greet students and guardians at start of class.
• Maintain a dynamic, fun, professional demeanor during sessions.
• Demonstrate and supervise proper exercise techniques.
• Keep the center clean and organized.
• Record class data and share notes with parents via the KS Coach App.
• Communicate professionally with teammates.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings.
• Be prepared for physically active shifts and assist with equipment.

The Role & Schedule

We are looking for coaches with an athletic or coaching background who ideally have experience coaching kids ages walking to 11 years old.

KidStrong Coach would focus on coaching children on brain, physical, and character development that stems from evolving monthly curriculum.

Ideal candidates must also be comfortable speaking to parents/guardians regarding “the why” behind the KidStrong curriculum.

Our classes run typically weekdays 9am -11am and evenings 3pm until 7 pm, and weekends are typically from 8am through 3:30pm.

Opportunity for a flexible work schedule depending on center needs.

Additional opportunity to increase scheduled hours through private party coaching hours.

Prior experience as a pediatric OT/PT is a plus, but not required!

Coach Responsibilities

• Coach class sizes of 6 to 15 children, age groups range from roughly 12 months old to 11 years old
• Teach the KidStrong curriculum as provided by the HQ programming team
• Must be able to ensure classes both start and end on schedule and follow the appropriate pace of curriculum
• Greet students as well as the parent(s)/guardian(s) individually prior to and at beginning of class
• Maintain a dynamic, fun, motivational, and professional demeanor when leading class
• Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various exercises
• Ensure cleanliness of the center
• Effectively use the KS Coach’s App to record class data and provide records of data for parents (attendance, awards, etc.)
• Communicate professionally with co-workers
• Complete trainings as directed
• Must be able to work in a physically intensive environment - coaches may cover multiple miles in a shift moving through class, lifting and repeatedly moving equipment up to 25 pounds in weight.
• Must be comfortable working “hands‑on” with kids to ensure proper technique and ensure student safety.
• Assist parents of students, ages 3 and younger, with the direction and flow of a class
• Attend monthly center staff programming meetings to receive training for next month’s curriculum
• Attend additional mandatory staff meetings as required by KidStrong Management
• (Optional) Learn and manage Coach KidStrong Camp - special classes held by centers when local schools are not operating (for example: Winter Break, Summer Break)

Job Qualifications

• Passion for working with children is non‑negotiable!
• Prior experience coaching students within the appropriate KidStrong age is preferred
• Prior experience speaking to and educating parents on the KidStrong curriculum
• Intermediate knowledge of physiology, exercise techniques, and body mechanics
• CPR certified
• Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills
• Self‑starter who just gets a job done

• Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but will be mentoring so communication and interpersonal skills are important.
• Sphere of Interaction Coaches will work closely with center leadership, families, and members of the HQ team.
