Job summary

YMCA of NorthWest North Carolina is seeking a Kids Zone Team Leader at our Winston-Salem location. The role supervises and leads activities to engage children ages 6 weeks to 11 years, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and delivers Christian-valued programming.

Responsibilities include creating activity schedules, setting up activities, onboarding and training staff, coaching Kids Zone Representatives, providing excellent customer service to members and families, and maintaining

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working with children or in related fields preferred.
  • Ability to supervise children and maintain a safe environment; strong communication and organization skills.
  • Willingness to obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment.

  • Lead educational, age-appropriate activities for children 6 weeks–11 years.
  • Maintain health, safety and cleanliness standards of Kids Zone.
  • Provide superior customer service to members and their children.
  • Create activity schedules and set up activities.
  • Onboard and train new Kids Zone staff; coach and counsel team members.
  • Maintain attendance records and assist with other duties as assigned.

Kids Zone Team Leader# Kids Zone Team LeaderRobinhood Road Family YMCA - Winston Salem, NC 27106; William G White Jr Family YMCA - Winston Salem, NC 27101End Date 08/25/2026## OverviewSalary Range$11.00 - $12.00 HourlyPosition TypePart TimeJob ShiftMorning## DescriptionMonday through Friday 7:45am - 12:15pmUnder the direction of branch and membership experience leaders and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, a Y Kids Zone Team Leader is responsible for supervising and leading activities to engage children in play and learning, while ensuring standards of health and safety are met.Responsibilities The Team Leader will assist the Kids Zone Coordinator in certain tasks, Including but not limited to, the following: Creating an activity schedule for Kids Zone Setting up activities Making sure the site has sufficient supplies Onboarding and training of new employees Coaching and counseling Kids Zone Representatives Additional responsibilities include those of the Kids Zone Representative, including: Lead educational, age-appropriate and Christian-valued activities for children ages 6 weeks-11 years Maintain health, safety and cleanliness standards of Kids Zone Provide superior customer service to members and their children Implement assigned programming Maintain accurate records relating to attendance Provide care and supervision of children in Kids Zone with emphasis on overall safety and wellness Communicate appropriately with other staff members in a positive manner Attend staff meetings and complete all required trainings Assist with other duties as assigned## QualificationsMinimum of 16 years of age High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience working with children or in a related field preferred Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to handle multiple tasks Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule Capable of working as a team player Ability to maintain safe environment Obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment (training is provided) Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, and walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff and parents Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children Performance may be measured by: The safety of all children in the assigned area The feedback from participants, parents, and Y leadership The pleasant environment and smooth operation of the Kids Zone program
