Job summary

Kernersville Family YMCA in Kernersville, NC is seeking a part-time Kids Zone Representative to supervise and lead activities for children aged 6 weeks through 11 years, with AM, PM and weekend shifts. You will help create safe, engaging play and learning experiences under YMCA guidance.

The role requires strong communication with parents and staff, a flexible schedule, and, if needed, obtaining ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of hire. Prior child-care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience working with children or in a related field preferred.
• Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule.
• Capable of working as a team player.
• Ability to maintain safe environment.
• Obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment (training is provided).

Job Details: Job Location: Kernersville Family YMCA - Kernersville, NC 27284, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $10.00 - $11.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Variable, Shifts are open for AM and PM as well as weekends. AM shifts are from 7:45-11.15 am PM Shifts are from 4:45 - 8:15 pm Must be able to work Saturdays

Under the direction of the Kids Zone Sr. Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, a Y Kids Zone Rep is responsible for supervising and leading activities to engage children in play and learning, while ensuring standards of health and safety are met.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
• Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
• Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
• Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, and walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff and parents
• Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children

• The safety of all children in the assigned area
• The feedback from participants, parents, and Y leadership
• The pleasant environment and smooth operation of the Kids Zone program
