Job summary

Palisades Tahoe is looking for Kids Ski Instructors of all experience levels to provide safe, enjoyable, and effective group ski lessons for kids while delivering exceptional guest service. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

The base hourly pay range is $21.00 - $38.81 per hour. Palisades Tahoe offers healthcare options for seasonal & Year-Round employees, free skiing privileges, staff discounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, and various other benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent.
  • PSIA/AASI certifications preferred for instructors.
  • Experience teaching children ages 3–13 is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, engaging ski lessons for kids aged 3–13 in group or private settings.
  • Instruct and adapt teaching to different skill levels while ensuring great guest service.
  • Assist with basic setup/teardown and equipment fitting for children.

Job Summary

Hourly

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks
  • Provides exceptional guest service while maintaining an environment of safety, fun, and learning.
  • Instructs and educates guest ages 3-13 in skiing and/or snowboarding in group or private lessons. May also instruct adults.
  • Clarify customer's expectations and goals at the beginning of each lesson.
  • Participates in skiing/Snowboarding clinics to keep current with the most modern and efficient teaching methods and techniques.
  • Helps with set up/tear down of beginner area as well as light cleaning of Children's Center.
  • Assists in the rental shop by fitting children with ski equipment.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Neat and clean appearance as per grooming standards.
  • Punctuality and ability to work well in a team.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Must be capable of walking or standing 50% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50lbs. Must capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will continuously be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

Equipment Used in Job: Skis and/or Snowboard

Education And Experience
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred certifications: PSIA or AASI, Children's Accreditation.
  • Experience teaching sports to children aged 3-13.
  • Background in recreation, education, or child development.
  • Customer service experience in a resort setting.

A Motor Vehicle Record review may be required as part of your job.
