Job summary

The West Suburban YMCA is seeking Kids' Corner Program Staff Members to provide a safe, supervised play environment for children while parents/guardians are on the premises at our Church St location. This role emphasizes child safety, routine forms, and active engagement through planned activities and proper supervision.

Responsibilities include enforcing health codes, handling emergency procedures, and coordinating with the team to ensure a positive, inclusive environment for all children.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or able to obtain prior to start.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups within the community.
• Previous experience in children’s play, arts and crafts, and group activities.
• Required trainings for WSYMCA employees.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, supervised play environment for children while parents/guardians are on site.
• Ensure all forms are completed by parent/guardian.
• Monitor sign-in/sign-out of children.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures and YMCA paging system.
• Plan play activities, songs, and storytelling for children.
• Enforce health codes and hygiene.
• Arrange substitutes when unable to work and notify supervisor promptly.
• Attend staff meetings when scheduled.
• Follow dress code and wear provided t-shirt and name tag.
• Know and follow all emergency procedures and complete required reports.
