Job summary

Lakeville Area Schools (Independent School District No. 194) seeks a Kid Zone Assistant to engage with students before and after school, leading educational and enjoyable activities while ensuring safety and well-being.

You will participate in field trips and help implement daily curricula, with shifts mornings and afternoons, 25 hours per week, school-year calendar.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age and a high school diploma.
  • Training or experience working with children in a group tutorial and supervisory setting.
  • Interpersonal skills that support positive working relationships with students and staff as determined by the coordinator.
  • Possess basic academic competencies to provide tutoring assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Directly work with and supervise large and small groups of children in planned activities across settings (classroom, cafeteria, gym, computer lab, playground, field trips).
  • Work with children with a variety of needs.
  • Supervise children during transitions, breakfast, lunch and snack periods.
  • Assist the Kid Zone Instructor in preparing and implementing the daily curriculum.
  • Maintain the room environment by setting up, cleaning, and storing supplies and equipment.

What You Will Do
  • Work directly with and supervises large and small groups of children in planned activities throughout a variety of settings, such as: classroom, cafeteria, gym, computer lab, playground and while on field trips.
  • Work with children with a variety of needs.
  • Supervises children during transition, breakfast, lunch and snack.
  • Assists the Kid Zone Instructor in preparing and implementing the daily curriculum.
  • Maintains room environment by setting up, cleaning and storing supplies and equipment.
What We Are Looking For
  • 18 years of age, high school diploma
  • Training or experience working with children in a group tutorial and supervisory setting.
  • Interpersonal skills that lend themselves to a compatible working relationship with students and other adults in the workplace as determined by the coordinator.
  • Possess basic academic competencies to provide tutorial assistance to the student(s) as needed.
Schedule
  • 5 hours per day / Monday - Friday
  • 25 hours per week
  • AM Shift time: 7am to 9:30am and PM Shift time: 3pm to 5:30pm

This position follows the school year calendar, from September to June, with a total of 176 days + field trip days.

Salary

In accordance with the Lakeville Education Assistants Federation salary schedule.

  • A-1-2, $18.68 - $22.46 per hour depending on experience.
