Job summary

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center seeks a qualified Interpreter to provide patient interpreting across hospital sites. The role includes on-site and phone interpretation, scheduling support, and translation of patient instructions.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and healthcare interpreting certification. Training staff and quality improvement participation are expected.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in oral and written in both target and source languages.
• Excellent communication and extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of healthcare policies, standards of practice and ethics.
• Experience in interpretation and translation in a healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Interprets for patients with limited or no English language proficiency in interactions with care providers.
• Translates complex medical and personal information, including diagnostics and treatment plans.
• Assists patients in scheduling appointments and resolving billing problems.
• Identifies and facilitates understanding of cultural differences affecting communication.
• Provides on-call interpreter services during evenings and weekends on rotation
