KGO-TV/ABC7, part of The Walt Disney Company, is seeking an accredited meteorologist or experienced weather anchor to produce and present daily forecasts for newscasts and digital platforms in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The role involves using weather software to forecast for multiple broadcasts and the 24/7 live stream, with shifts on weekdays or weekends mornings or evenings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or related field.
• Meteorology degree required.
• AMS Seal preferred (certification).

ABC7 KGO-TV is the Bay Area's news leader, delivering breaking news, weather and live video on-air and 24/7 wherever you stream. Producing more than 45 hours of live newscasts every week, ABC7 Eyewitness News is widely recognized for its solution-based journalism and advocacy with legacy franchises Seven on Your Side, and I-Team. ABC7 is a respected and valued community resource, KGO-TV is an ABC Owned Television Station serving San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and the greater Bay Area.

KGO-TV/ABC7, the ABC-owned television station in San Francisco, also serving Oakland and San Jose is seeking an accredited meteorologist or experienced weather anchor to produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts, on digital and social platforms. The meteorologist/weather anchor will use weather software systems to create and present forecasts for various newscasts. This employee will also create forecasts for digital and social platforms and for the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream.

This is an as-needed/daily hire position. Shifts will be weekday or weekend mornings or evenings, depending on staff vacations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience reporting weather on-air.
• Candidates should have a solid resume reel showing superior on-camera presentation.

• Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area

The pay rate for this role in San Francisco, CA is $415/day + overtime. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
