Summary
The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service
- Answer questions regarding the store and merchandise
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
- Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing information with Team
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices
- Consistently perform personal sales and impact Teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG)
- Achieve personal sales goals set by Store Management
- Provide legendary service across all store areas: Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, register area
- Be knowledgeable of exchange and return procedures, turning them into showmanship opportunities
- Use the SPG daily to accomplish goals
- Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs
- Expand Guest selection through inventory management tools
- Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
- Lead by example with showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness
- Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the Team
- Ask business-driven and showmanship questions regularly to Managers and Team
- Be coachable and allow Manager to educate in sales presentation
- Perform leadership actions and maintain high standards regardless of Manager presence
Teammate Recruiting, Training, and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using various tools
- Develop skills and lead, motivate, and educate new Teammates to meet standards
- Maintain a positive attitude creating a positive floor culture
- Demonstrate personal dress code to encourage fashion trends
- Participate in daily setup, training, and reviews using the Performance Tracker
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks
- Demonstrate and coach denim showmanship and fit cards
- Create results in your department and balance all DM actions
- During your segment, demonstrate awareness of Guests, involve them with product, and update the team
- Work collaboratively to benefit Teammates and Guests
Visual Merchandise Management
- Own product zones, including knowledge, placement, and lifecycle
- Recognize and assign Zones and projects with specific learning goals
- Ensure Teammates follow visual standards and utilize visual tools
- Recognize merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations
- Provide informational store tours
- Maintain store size and freight display standards
Operations
- Work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and special holiday shifts
- Use planners and complete opening/closing checklists
- Recognize security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines
- Handle POS procedures and store communications professionally
- Follow policies for returns, exchanges, and payments
- Maintain a clean, organized store environment
- Understand and apply Buckle’s policies and code of ethics
Supervisory and Leadership
- Give and receive feedback professionally
- Support leadership and promote store growth
- Maintain professional relationships with all Teammates
- Perform job duties with high customer service standards and team spirit
- Handle special projects and other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related retail experience/training; or equivalent.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk/hear. Occasionally sit. Able to lift/maneuver 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Work primarily in a retail store setting with moderate noise levels.
