Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a proactive Keyholder to partner with the store team as a limited Manager on Duty. You will support profitability, customer service, and daily operations while ensuring security and policy compliance.

Ideal candidates have prior supervisory experience, a high school diploma, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. This is a full-time role based in Merrillville, IN with opportunities to lead staff and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Maximizes profits and customer service by leading assigned category team and operating the store in accordance with Company policies.
• Operates the store as a limited Manager On Duty with the management team.
• Maintains store security as a key-holding member of management.
• Ensures high levels of customer service and resolves complaints satisfactorily.
• Maintains merchandising, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
• Trains and develops associates within category and facilitates cross-training.
• Communicates effectively to all staff via daily briefings and meetings.
• Handles bank deposits and cash/change handling as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Keyholder operates as a limited Manager on Duty by maintaining the physical security of the store, under direction from the management team.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Maximizes profits and customer service by leading assigned category team and operating the store in adherence to all Company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Operates the store as a limited Manager On Duty in conjunction with the management team.
• Maintains the physical security of the store they are assigned, and in doing so is a key-holding member of management.
• Ensures highest level of customer service and handles customer complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Maintains category merchandising and cleanliness and ensures operational efficiency.
• Trains and develops Associates within category and facilitates cross-training for further development.
• Facilitates effective communication to all store Associates through daily briefings and weekly and monthly meetings.
• Drops off bank deposit and picks up change order as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a supervisor role
• 18 years of age or older
