Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a SP2NC Lead to oversee our warehouse operations in Jacksonville, NC. The role reports to the SP2NC Manager and provides leadership to warehouse associates, ensuring accurate receiving, stocking, picking, fulfilling customer orders, invoicing, and shipping.

You will supervise daily activities, enforce safety guidelines, coordinate loading/unloading, and handle label changes and item identification.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience using radio-frequency scanners is preferred.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise SP2NC warehouse associates as they perform their duties.
• Fill store and customer orders for all customers.
• Remove product from shelves as requested and assign/remove labels as instructed.
• Identify correct items and locations accurately; follow all safety rules and guidelines.
• Load and unload trucks; perform other duties as assigned.

The SP2NC Lead reports directly to the SP2NC Manager. Provides leadership to the warehouse associates as needed. Responsible for completing the work of a warehouse associates. The SP2NC Lead performs all functions including but not limited to receiving, stocking, picking, fulfilling customer orders, invoicing, & shipping orders. The SP2NC Lead demonstrates behavior that supports AWBC core values.

Roles and Responsibilities

Supervises SP2NC warehouse associates as they perform their duties.

• Fills store and customer orders for all customers.
• Responsible for removing product from shelves as requested.
• Add or remove labels from product as assigned.
• Accurately identify the correct items from their correct location.
• Responsible for following all safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
• Load and unload trucks
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• Previous warehouse experience preferred.
• Prior experience using radio-frequency scanner preferred.
• Ability to make on the spot decisions based on training and experience.

• Computer Skills – Internal and external email, along with Microsoft office, especially Excel, used daily.
• Ability to take direction and work unsupervised.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
• Read and write legibly. Including very small print.
• Listen to information, and follow directions provided through an electronic headset.
• Walk up to 8 miles a day. Walking short distances through the department/building.
• Use hands/arms to operate required equipment and repetitive motion activities.
• Lift objects up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
• Bend, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
