Overview

The Key Carrier assists in the management of the retail facility. This position could be a cashier, receiver, or sales associate. The Key Carrier should know the necessary aspects of store operation and act as the Store Manager in his/her absence, on a short-time basis, and be able to open and close the store as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform specific duties as outlined in cashier, receiver, or sales associate job descriptions.
• Open and close the store as directed.
• Assist in managing the retail store and supervising store associates.
• Understand store operations and act as the Store Manager in his/her absence.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the store.
• Assist in training new store associates.
• Maintain awareness of safety and security issues, reporting incidents promptly.
• Implement company policies and procedures.
• Help increase sales, maintain profit margins, and reduce controllable expenses.
• Maintain the store's interior and exterior appearance, including staff appearance.
• Participate actively in personal selling.
• Contribute to shrinkage control through preventative measures.
• Resolve personnel and customer issues and complaints.
• Perform other usual and customary duties in the retail industry.
• Assist the store manager with miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Understand reports from the general office and coach associates to meet goals (e.g., ADS, UPT, Payroll, Refunds, Turnover).
