Job summary

Houchens Ace Hardware is seeking a Store Associate to uphold core values and lead store operations in the absence of management. The role focuses on directing associates, ensuring policy adherence, and coordinating daily tasks to amaze customers.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, 6 months to 1 year of retail experience, and basic computer proficiency. A valid driver’s license is required; weekend work is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 6 months–1 year of retail experience.
• Technically proficient in computer systems including related software
• Gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
• Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
• Interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company’s insurance carrier’s standards.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the store as dictated by schedule.
• Serve as the “Manager on Duty” in the absence of management, directing the store team and following policies and procedures.
• Receive merchandise, manage cash register transactions, perform daily cash reconciliation and inventory control.
• Resolve and/or report issues related to shift including staff, customer or product issues.
• Enforce safety policies and serve as a safety role model.
• Complete other tasks as directed by supervision.

Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Houchens Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. The Key Carrier is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule
• In the absence of management staff, serves as the “Manager on Duty” by directing the store team, and adhering to company directed policies and procedures as they relate to the store operations; receiving of merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
• Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining the shift including employee, customer, product issues, etc.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures, and serves as role model for safety.
• Other assigned tasks as directed by Supervision

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months-1 year of retail experience.
