Job summary

Houchens Ace Hardware is seeking a Key Holder to support store operations under the direction of Store Manager. This role will lead the store team in the manager's absence and oversee opening and closing, cash handling, and inventory processes.

The ideal candidate has retail experience, strong data and records skills, and a valid driver license. You will be expected to engage staff at all levels, adhere to safety policies, and complete other tasks assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months-1 year of retail experience.
• Technically proficient in computer systems including related software.
• Gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
• Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
• Interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company’s insurance carrier’s standards.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the store as dictated by schedule.
• In the absence of management staff, serve as the “Manager on Duty” directing the store team and handling opening/closing, cash transactions, and inventory control.
• Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining to the shift including employee, customer, product issues.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures and model safety.
• Other assigned tasks as directed by supervision.

Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Houchens Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. The Key Holder is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule
• In the absence of management staff, serves as the “Manager on Duty” by directing the store team, and adhering to company directed policies and procedures as they relate to the store operations; receiving of merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
• Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining the shift including employee, customer, product issues, etc.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures, and serves as role model for safety.
• Other assigned tasks as directed by Supervision

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months-1 year of retail experience.
