Position Summary : The Key Account Sales Consultant aims to enhance MSC’s market position and achieve revenue and profit growth within Mid-Market customers ($200,000-$5,000,000 potential). Managing a portfolio of $2M - $4M annually, the role involves building customer relationships, identifying opportunities, negotiating, closing deals, and collaborating with internal teams to maximize sales. The role requires leveraging market research, account planning tools, and analytics to provide valuable insights to customers.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Align insights with customer priorities, sharing market news and helping them avoid potential issues.
  2. Engage in two-way communication, linking customer needs to MSC’s value proposition and delivering compelling insights.
  3. Understand and influence various customer stakeholders, tailoring engagement strategies accordingly.
  4. Maintain deep knowledge of customer industries, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  5. Qualify and demonstrate the value of MSC solutions before discussing ROI/financials.
  6. Proactively advance purchase decisions, rally internal resources, and define next steps with customers.
  7. Create constructive tension by challenging customer perspectives with data and industry insights.
  8. Tailor presentations and insights to industry, company, and contact specifics.
  9. Use CRM tools like Salesforce.com diligently and adhere to sales standards.
  10. Guide customers through the purchasing process, overcoming potential roadblocks.
  11. Identify and empower mobilizers within customer organizations.
  12. Research industry trends and develop trusted advisor relationships with customers.
  13. Build and maintain relationships across various contacts within each account.
  14. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts for specialized solutions.
  15. Provide documentation of cost savings and value delivered.
  16. Maintain accurate and current sales data in CRM and other platforms.
  17. Participate in professional development and foster MSC’s culture.
  18. Support new initiatives and participate in cross-functional projects as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Distribution, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of successful B2B sales experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com.

Skills :

  • Strong ability to teach, influence, and tailor messaging to customers.
  • Expertise in guiding the purchasing process and driving consensus.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals.
  • Decision-making, accountability, and adaptability.

Additional Requirements :

  • Ability to travel within the territory, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical activities as needed.
  • Access to regulated information may be required.

Compensation starts at $64,540 – $101,420/year, based on experience and performance. MSC offers comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, 401K, stock options, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off.
