Job summary

ADS Environmental Services is seeking a Key Account Manager to drive growth in the Mid-Atlantic region, focusing on water and wastewater monitoring solutions. This role develops new accounts and manages existing ADS customers from home or field sites, with travel across the territory.

The ideal candidate will reside in Washington, D.C. or Virginia and bring strong sales experience, excellent communication, and the ability to build relationships across functions.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or equivalent technical degree. Exposure to and understanding of collection systems or open channel hydraulics preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of direct sales experience in the territory.
  • Ability to work from home with virtual presentations and promote concepts to create customer demand.
  • Proven ability to identify and acquire new accounts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across functions with a customer focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with sales tracking databases (CRM).
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% weekly within the territory.
  • Time management skills and meeting deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales activities in a region for ADS accounts, including leads, proposals, quotes, pricing strategies, negotiating contracts, and delivering signed contracts to Operations.
  • Develop ADS accounts within a region and craft strategies to meet client needs.
  • Join local industry associations; present technical presentations at conferences and seminars.
  • Sell concepts and close accounts with municipal wastewater and consulting engineering customers.
  • Meet or exceed revenue while growing margins by coordinating with Operations for pricing.
  • Follow up on leads generated through corporate and regional efforts.
  • Report daily/weekly in the CRM on prospecting activities, schedules, and contract status.
  • Abide by on-site safety requirements.
  • Initiate project kick-off meetings before start-up for ADS accounts.
  • Work with Operations to determine project costing and act as client interface.
  • Assist in contract interpretation and initial legal review.
  • Complete Special Projects as requested.

The Key Account Manager at ADS will play a pivotal role in our mission for growth by identifying technical solutions to solve our customer's unique Water and Wastewater Monitoring needs. The Key Account Manager (KAM) will develop new account customers as well as maintain existing accounts as identified in the annual ADS Sales Commission Plan. The Key Account Manager will oversee sales activities within the Mid-Atlantic territory for ADS customers.

The ideal candidate will reside within Washington D.C. or Virginia.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage sales activities in a specific sales region for ADS accounts, including but not limited to generating leads, writing sales proposals and quotes, leading proposal presentations including presentation development and generation, development of pricing strategies, negotiating and procuring sales contracts, delivering signed contracts to Operations.
  • Develop ADS accounts within a Region and develop strategies to meet individual client needs.
  • Join and actively participate in local industry associations. Present technical presentations in conferences and sales seminars.
  • Sell concepts & close accounts with municipal wastewater and consulting engineering customers.
  • Meet and/or exceed individual revenue threshold while maintaining and growing sold margins by working with Operations managers to develop competitive pricing for opportunities.
  • Timely follow-up on leads generated through both corporate and regional efforts for ADS accounts.
  • Report daily & weekly in the contact management data base (CRM) of ADS account prospecting activities including schedules, opportunity management and contract status.
  • Abide by on‑the‑job site safety requirements.
  • Initiate Project kick‑off meetings prior to project start‑up for ADS accounts.
  • Work closely with Operations to determine specific project requirements for costing purposes, and function as client interface for ADS accounts.
  • Assist in contract interpretation and initial legal review
  • Complete Special Projects as requested.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or equivalent technical degree. Exposure to and understanding of collection systems or open channel hydraulics preferred.
  • Minimum 3 plus years of related direct sales experience preferred with exposure to accounts within the territory preferred.
  • Ability to develop business from home utilizing virtual presentation skills Demonstrated ability to promote concepts and ideas to create customer demand.
  • Proven ability to identify and acquire new accounts with success.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required with exceptional listening skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and work well across functions with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience with sales and sales management tracking databases preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time on a weekly basis within the territory.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license
Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $78,200.00 - $117,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
