Overview
A biotechnology company commercializing a novel urine-based liquid biopsy diagnostic for prostate cancer is seeking a Key Account Manager. This CLIA-certified diagnostics company is building its commercial team to help physicians and healthcare facilities adopt a test designed to help patients avoid unnecessary prostate biopsies. This role is central to driving adoption of the diagnostic among physician offices and healthcare networks.
What you'll do
- Manage day-to-day sales operations within a defined geography
- Apply scientific concepts effectively within the sales process
- Interact regularly with sales colleagues across the country
- Provide accurate territory forecasts, including monthly numbers broken down by physician
- Interface with Sales, Marketing, CLIA lab scientists, operations, and executive teams
- Provide timely responses and solutions to incoming requests from customers, patients, providers, and partners
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience
- Partner with lab operations on launches, conferences, and process improvements
- Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA requirements; complete HIPAA/PHI training upon hire
- Stay current on the company's diagnostic offerings and services
- Travel a minimum of 50% of the work week
- Allocate approximately 90% of working time in the field
- Manage territory Travel & Expense budget with accuracy and integrity
- Maintain accountability for administrative tasks, including CRM utilization and weekly reporting
- Lift boxes and hand-deliver diagnostic test kits to physician offices as needed
- Leverage company resources such as marketing materials, speaker programs, and regional trade shows to maximize business results
- Maintain integrity in all business interactions and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience selling into physician offices and healthcare networks
- Strong, documented history of sales achievements
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior-level healthcare professionals
- Exceptional enthusiasm and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to develop and deliver high-impact messages to customers and senior executives
- Experience interacting with all levels of an organization, including negotiation and influence with diverse stakeholders
- Experience/proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Able to travel up to 50% of the work week
- Able to lift boxes and hand-deliver diagnostic kits to physician offices
- Strong ability to analyze performance trends and operational metrics
- Proven root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick, concise decisions
- Diverse background spanning clinical labs, marketing, and sales
- Experience handling PHI
Preferred qualifications
- Previous sales experience in Urology or Diagnostics strongly preferred
